Gardaí appeal for witnesses after road fatality in Co Clare

Passenger also hurt in single-car collision but his injuries not considered life threatening

Gardaí­ in Killaloe, Co Clare, are appealing for witnesses after a man died when the car in which he was travelling left the road and struck a ditch.

At about 2.45pm gardaí were called to the scene of the single-car collision on the R352 near the village of Mountshannon. The driver, a man in his 60s, was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later. His body has since been removed to University Hospital Limerick for postmortem.

A passenger in the car, also a man in his 60s, was also taken to the hospital by ambulance; his injuries are not thought to be life threatening.
