The Dublin Dragon Boat Regatta, taking place from 10am to 6pm at Grand Canal Dock on Saturday and Sunday, will feature 55 teams racing in a two day event. Each team will have 16-20 members and will race over 200m and 400m distances. Teams from Ireland, Australia, USA, Germany, and the UK will take part. Attendance is free. dragonboat.ie/events
A Greek Themed Feast at the Derg Inn in Terryglass, Co Tipperary, takes place from 3pm on Sunday. It will involve a talk on sustainable farming methods delivered by Brookfield Farm. There will also be a short talk on lamb production, an introduction to beekeeping, and methods for collecting honey whilst taking care not to exploit the bees. The feast itself will involve local produce. Tickets are €25 and are available here.
The MADRA Canine Carnival is a festival for dogs taking place at Brigit's Garden in Rosscahill, Co Galway, on Sunday. Local dog rescue charity MADRA will be holding a "doggie day out" from 1-4pm with a host of canine-themed activities to help raise funds for dogs in need. There will be a novelty dog show with a number of categories including 'the dog you would most like to take home', 'golden oldies', 'the dog most like its owner', and 'the best trick'. Refugee relief night for Médecins Sans Frontières is taking place in Whelan's on Camden Street from 8pm on Sunday. The fundraiser has been organised by singer Mary Coughlan who said she "felt moved to act" on seeing pictures and stories emerging from the ongoing refugee crisis. She will be joined by a host of well known musicians from the folk and traditional scenes including Damien Dempsey, Liam Ó Maonlaí, and members of Kíla. The Waterford Harvest Festival is a city wide festival celebrating food heritage and culture from Saturday to Monday. There will be cookery demonstrations, tastings, workshops, as well as a number of street parties with picnics and a market. The festival is designed to involve and educate people in "the appreciation of good, clean, and fair food". Events will take place under three strands: grow, cook and eat.
