The Labour Relations Commission has invited health service management and the Irish Medical Organisation to take part in talks tomorrow aimed at heading off a threatened strike by non-consultant hospital doctors.
The doctors had planned to hold a 24-hour work stoppage later this month in a dispute over lengthy working hours with further industrial action likely in subsequent weeks.
The doctors maintained that their working hours in many cases are in excess of EU rules.
The HSE had referred the dispute to the Labour Relations Commission.
