This week’s golf world standings saw Ireland’s two highest-ranked players in Padraig Harrington and Darren Clarke move in the wrong direction.
Harrington paid the price of missing the cut in last week’s Volvo PGA Championship at Wentworth and dropped out of the top 10 to 12th.
Clarke slipped one place to 16th, despite finishing tied for seventh in the European Tour’s blue-riband event with a final round 67.
The biggest move by far came from Jim Furyk. The American won Jack Nicklaus’s Memorial tournament on the US PGA Tour at the weekend and so climbed to ninth spot from 23rd.
Colin Montgomerie moved up four places to 17th after his second runner-up finish in as many weeks.
The top five places remain unchanged: Tiger Woods leads the table with Phil Mickelson, Ernie Els, Retief Goosen and Sergio Garcia following in that order.
