A grant of $300,000 has been given by the Minister for Foreign Affairs to assist Irish emigrant groups to deal with the terrorist attack on the US.

Mr Brian Cowen today thanked all the organisations for their for their ongoing work assisting the wider Irish community following the disaster.

He met with representative of the Irish Immigration Working Committee and discussed the expected number of fatalities from the Irish-American community and how to deal with the aftermath of the situation.

Today’s allocation brings to over $3.3 million the aid for Irish emigrant from the Irish Government since 1990.
