The award winning Irish film Oncehas been nominated for two Grammys.
The production, directed by John Carney and set in Dublin, centred around the relationship between a busker and a young woman.
The film was nominated for Best Compilation Soundtrack Album in a Motion Picture while the song 'Falling Slowly' was selected in the Best Song category.
Oncewill be competing for the gongs with US films Dream Girls and Hairspray. Starring Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova in the leading roles, Onceis a modern-day musical telling the story of a busker and an immigrant who fall in love as they write, rehearse and record a number of songs.
Oncewon the World Cinema Audience Award in the dramatic category at the 2007 Sundance Film Festival. It went on to take over 10 million at the North American box office.
The film has also been listed as one of the top ten independent films this year by the US National Board of Review.
It is also up for consideration for the Film Independent Spirit awards and is listed on www.oscarwatch.com as a film to watch for the Oscars. Once is produced by Samson Films with finance from the Irish Film Board.
The Grammy awards ceremony will take place in Los Angeles on February 10th.
