Talks aimed at brokering deal in the dispute over redundancy payments for the former workers at the Irish Glass Bottle company have been adjourned at the Labour Court without any significant progress.

The Irish Glass Bottle Company have refused to pay a Labour Court recommendation of five weeks pay per year of service.

When the company closed in July, 350 jobs were lost.

SIPTU vice president, Mr Jack O'Connor said: "Workers with over 20 years service are being let go by companies with less than €12,000 in their pockets, while Ray Burke was receiving €71,000 a year from the taxpayer".
