Irish industrial output is continuing to slow, according to figures released today by the Central Statistics Office.

The seasonally adjusted volume of industrial production fell by 4.9 per cent for the three-month period from June to August 2001 when compared with the preceding three-month period.

The sharpest decrease in the June-August period was in radio, television and communication equipment where production fell by 36 per cent.

The year-on-year increase for August 2001 was 5.6 per cent.
