Irish industrial manufacturing production volume fell by 6 per cent in the three months to the end of November 2006 compared to the preceding three-month period, Central Statistics Office data showed today.
That compared with a revised, seasonally adjusted decrease of 2.2 per cent in the three months to the end of October. On an annual basis, manufacturing production fell 12.1 per cent in November versus a revised rise of 5.6 per cent in October.
Year-on-year production for all-industries, which adds sectors such as mining and electricity, was 10.8 per cent lower than in November 2005 versus an annual growth rate of 5.5 per cent in October.
The "modern" sector, comprising a number of high-technology and chemical sectors, showed an annual drop in production for November 2006 of 14.6 per cent, while the "traditional" sector recorded a decline of 1.6 per cent.
Seasonally adjusted industrial turnover for manufacturing industries was 2.2 per cent lower in the September to November 2006 period when compared with the preceding three-month period.
On an annual basis, turnover in November was 10.2 per cent lower than in the same month of 2005.
