A group of Irish students was injured in Canada on Sunday when a light plane crash-landed.
Details are still emerging after the crash of the twin-engined Kingaire near Pitt Meadows Airport east of Vancouver.
One of the students is in a serious condition in hospital with head injuries, while five others, also believed to be Irish, received minor injuries. The pilot and co-pilot also received minor injuries.
A spokesman for the Department of Foreign Affairs said they were still trying to get details on the incident. It is understood the students attend NUI Maynooth, Co Kildare.
According to local media reports, the plane was carrying skydivers and made a wheels-up landing in a blueberry field.
The airplane, operated by Pacific Skydivers, is believed to have experienced engine problems. "My understanding is they had taken off, then there were some issues and they tried to get back," Ridge Meadows RCMP Cpl Mike McCauley told The Province.
