Tax experts are to travel to Russia to teach government officials how the Irish tax system works, it emerged today.
The initiative is part of the Presidents' Programme in which Ireland shares experience and expertise with the Russian public sector.
The programme was established by Taoiseach Bertie Ahern with former president Boris Yeltsin in 1999.
Agreement was reached between the countries earlier this year to organise a course explaining how the Irish tax system works.
The department wants to hire a course director, trainers and support staff to deliver a seven-day training programme and produce a written report.
