Emmet Oliver (26) has been appointed Education Correspondent of The Irish Times.

Emmet Oliver (26) has been appointed Education Correspondent of The Irish Times.

He was educated at Terenure College and University College Dublin, where he graduated in 1995 with a BA in History and English. In 1996 he received a Masters in Journalism from Dublin City University.

He began working for The Irish Times in 1996, initially in the newsroom and subsequently as a business reporter. He became a staff news reporter with The Irish Times in June 1999.

Eibhir Mulqueen (32) has been appointed Midwest Correspondent of The Irish Times, based in Limerick. From Kilrush, Co Clare, he was educated at the CBS, Kilrush, St Mary's College, Galway, and Trinity College, Dublin, where he read Sociology and Political Science. Subsequently, he received a Diploma in Journalism Studies from Strathclyde University, Scotland.

From 1993 to 1996 he worked for the Connacht Tribune in Galway. He has worked in the newsroom and finance sections of The Irish Times for the past three years. The Midwest Correspondent will be assisted by local correspondents in the mid-west region, including Arthur Quinlan in Limerick.
