irishtimes.com has launched a new application for the iPhone and iPad that gives subscribers access to the digital version of The Irish Times.

The app is free to download, and content will be available to those who have a subscription to the epaper.

The epaper, which was launched on irishtimes.com in March, offers a replica of the daily newspaper in a digital format with enhanced functions such as audio versions and article translation.

Irish Times managing director Liam Kavanagh said the new app was part of the company’s move to find ways to engage with readers across a variety of platforms using the latest technology.

“The launch of this high quality app offering excellent clarity and readability is a further example of our commitment to innovation in this area,” he said.

Pricing for the epaper is on a sliding scale, running from €1.80 for a single day to €9 for one month, €25 for three months and €89 for 12 months.

The application allows users to download a single issue, or have different sections of the paper on order to be delivered over 3G to their phone or iPad as they are published each day.

The application can be downloaded from Apple’s App Store.
