An 18-year-old Irishman missing for three weeks has been kidnapped by guerrillas in Colombia, local police have confirmed. Mr Tristan James, (18) was on his way to visit family members at the Atlantis ecological community in the state of Tolima when he disappeared on July 15th. He was travelling with a Colombian companion but they never arrived at their destination.
Mr James had been living in the Colombian capital, Bogota, for the last eight years with family members who are part of the Atlantis community. The group was originally part of an organisation called the Screamers, who were based on Gola island, off the Donegal coast.
The Department of Foreign Affairs had no report of Mr James's disappearance, a spokesman said last night.
