ISE appoints new chairman

Padraic O'Connor was appointed the new chairman of the Irish Stock Exchange at the Exchange's AGM in Dublin this morning.

Padraic O'Connor was appointed the new chairman of the Irish Stock Exchange at the Exchange's AGM in Dublin this morning.

Mr O'Connor succeeds David Kingston who has retired from the board after nine years as chairman.

Mr O'Connor has extensive experience in the financial services sector and is director of ACC Bank, Bear Stearns Bank Ltd and Quintillion Ltd. He is also the chairman of Alltracel plc and Adwalker plc, as well as Hewitt Associates (Ireland) and Jones Distribution plc.

Speaking today Mr O'Connor paid tribute to the outgoing chairman and said that he looked forward to working with his colleagues on the board, as well as with incoming chief executive Deirdre Somers.
