PARIS - Algerian security forces have killed four rebels responsible for armed attacks in Algiers, the official APS news agency reported yesterday. "A group of four terrorists including a woman was eliminated on Saturday night at the (Algiers) suburb of Annasers," APS said quoting security services.
APS said the group led by Rihane Yahia alias Abdallah Krounfel was responsible ford several armed attacks in Algiers. Last week, Algerian newspapers reported that at least 53 Muslim gerrillas were killed by security forces in two separate strikes on their strongholds. About 60,000 people have been killed in Algeria's violence as early 1992 when the authorities cancelled a general election in which Islamists had taken a huge lead.
