Israeli army helicopter gunships attacked a what they claim to have been a Palestinian arms and munitions factory in the south of the Gaza Strip overnight.
The factory manufactured mortars, according to an army statement, and the pilots had hit their targets and returned safely to their bases.
The raid was carried out in retaliation for Palestinian mortar fire on the nearby settlement of Gadid, the statement added. No Israelis were injured in the mortar shelling.
According to Palestinian security sources, nobody was hurt in the Israeli helicopter raid, which took place east of Khan Yunis.
But the Palestinian sources added the target was not an arms factory but a steel factory owned by the Abu Hassanein family, involved in a vendetta with another Palestinian family in Khan Yunis.
