Israeli soldiers shot a Palestinian dead in the West Bank town of Hebron today in clashes that erupted after an Israeli incursion, hospital sources said.
Dr Musa Safi Kdemat (50) was shot in the stomach in the city centre as he rushed away from the battle between soldiers and Palestinian gunmen, Palestinian sources said.
Palestinian police sources claimed the fighting broke out after Israeli tanks entered into autonomous Palestinian territory in Hebron. The Israeli army denies this report.
Earlier, an Israeli civilian believed to be in his 60s was shot dead in a restaurant near Ramallah in the West Bank.
The man, who was with Palestinian friends in the village of Nahalin was shot in the head at point-blank range.
For several months, Israelis have been forbidden to travel in the Palestinian territories for fear of attacks on them.
