Italian prosecutors investigating the Italian food group Parmalat have called for 29 executives and three financial institutions to stand trial for crimes over the financial scandal, a judicial source says.
On the list were Parmalat founder and former chairman Calisto Tanzi, the Italian affiliates of Bank of America and of auditors Deloitte & Touche, and auditor Grant Thornton's former Italian office, the source said today.
The 32 accused were the same as those named by prosecutors in March when they unsuccesfully sought a fast-track trial. Wednesday's request for an ordinary trial process must now be considered by a Milan judge.
