Rome - Italy has laid on a small number of missiles in case guerrillas or antiglobalisation protesters launch air attacks against leaders from the Group of Eight countries in Genoa at a summit later this month. Defence Minister Mr Antonio Martino said the measure was a "probably excessive precaution".
About 17,000 members of the Italian security forces will be on hand for the July 20th22nd summit, along with the eight leaders' personal security staff.
