Hundreds of Michael Jackson fans are set to descend on a California courthouse on Friday where their idol is due to appear on child sex abuse charges.

The pop star's brother Jermaine Jackson said at a news conference that he and his family have been overwhelmed by the "outpouring of support" from the fans.

Fan clubs from America, and even worldwide, have hired buses and caravans to get to the courthouse in Santa Maria on Friday.

"He is innocent. My brother is innocent, 1,000 per cent," Jermaine Jackson said in Encino, California. "My mother, my father, my sisters, my brothers are overwhelmed at the outpouring of the support by the fans both here in the United States and all around the world.

"It is a true testament to Michael and his messages of love and inclusion that so many people of diverse backgrounds are travelling from around the globe to support him."

More than two dozen Jackson lawyers, accountants, bankers and managers were meeting at the Beverly Hills Hotel today to discuss the singer's business affairs, said Jackson family friend Mr Brian Oxman.

"There is to be a meeting of the brain trusts for Michael's management," he said. "Rumours will be set to rest, and it's to explain how Michael is to handle further actions in connection with his business."

Jackson (45), is charged with seven counts of performing lewd or lascivious acts on a child under 14 and two counts of administering an intoxicating agent, reportedly wine.

He is free on $3 million bail pending the court hearing in Santa Maria.
