TEXAN model, Jerry Hall, has consulted a top divorce lawyer after media reports that her husband, the Rolling Stones singer Mick Jagger, has had a string of affairs with younger women.

It was reported yesterday that Hall had called in Mr Anthony Julius, the lawyer who negotiated Princess Diana's divorce from Prince Charles last August.

Mr Julius would only say: "I have instructions from my client that I should make no comment in connection with this inquiry."

The story dominated Britain's racy tabloids, which were packed with tales of the roue of rock renowned as much for his wandering eye as his swivelling hips.

Hall's patience was said to have snapped after reports linking the 53 year old singer with Pulp Fiction star, Uma Thurman, and Czech model, Jana Rajlich, who are both half his age.

The Daily Mirror said the couple, married six years but together for almost two decades in a roller coaster relationship, could be locked in a £100 million divorce battle.

Jagger is one of the richest men in Britain. The couple have homes in London, France, New York and the Caribbean.

Jagger has five children and two grandchildren from two marriages.

"Why does this man, who was a sexual icon for a generation, feel an unquenchable desire to continue proving himself?" asked the Daily Mail.

Hall (40), once said she never expected her life with Jagger to last more than a couple of years.

But she took the plunge in 1990, marrying him in an exotic Hindu ceremony on the island of Bali.

Of Jagger's philandering, she said: "My theory is that the more you let em go, the more they come back. The thing with rock stars is that women just keep chasing after them. They are not like normal guys.

Hall, whose marriage has provided such rich pickings for gossip columnists, is the first to acknowledge the continuing magnetism of the ageing superstar: "After all these years, all these girls are still chasing after him.

Jagger's first marriage to Nicaraguan beauty, Bianca Perez Macias, ended in 1980 after nine tempestuous years.

Jagger is the first to admit that his fans are desperate to halt the time machine.

He said: "They want you to be like you were in 1969. They want you to because otherwise their youth goes with you. It is very selfish but it is understandable."
