Tokyo - The Japanese Prime Minister, Mr Keizo Obuchi, introduced a new cabinet to cement his three-way ruling coalition yesterday and pledged to ensure the nation's economic recovery is not derailed.
The new government, off to a less-than-auspicious start after the nation's worst-ever nuclear accident last Thursday, also said it would forge ahead with the nation's nuclear power programme while tightening safety rules to prevent accidents.
Mr Obuchi's administration sealed a three-way deal giving the ruling camp a 357-seat lock on parliament's lower house and a majority in the upper chamber.
