The studious looking young man in the picture (right) is Spain's fastest-rising jazz phenomenon, a young pianist whose emergence in the last year has been accompanied by considerable acclaim. Not yet 21, he has toured with the European Jazz Orchestra and played with such heavyweights as saxophonists Pete King and Mark Turner, and guitarist Louis Stewart, as well as being part of alto saxophonist Perico Sambeat's quartet. His recording debut as leader was released last December on the Satchmo label. Under the name The Quartet Jams, his current Irish tour, with Michael Buckley, Jeremy Brown and Stephen Keogh, takes in Dublin, Limerick and Clare next week.
