May the Force be with you. Well, it may if you manage to acquire some of the Force powers in this sequel to the solid but ultimately disappointing Dark Forces. As with all Star Wars-associated games the trademark: "A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away" etc sets the tone. But comparisons with previous attempts at duplicating the movie series end right there. This is by far the best 3D action game to come from the Lucas Arts stable.
What sets it apart from other titles are the Force powers and, of course, the Light-saber. There are both light and dark powers depending on your mood. Light powers include Force pull, Force jump and Force persuasion which can convince the weak of mind to alter their intentions, while dark powers include the infamous grip used to chilling effect by Darth Vader. The Lightsaber proves to be a useful weapon, not there purely for aesthetic purposes. In fact, in multi-player mode (another strange omission from the first episode) the Lightsaber provides for some great sci-fi action. Jedi Knight isn't perfect but it is a huge improvement, a must-buy for those with interest in either Star Wars or 3D action. But be warned - a beefy Pentium and 3D accelerator are required to appreciate it in all its glory.
