A French-American journalist has been kidnapped in the southern Iraqi city of Nasiriyah.
The man was kidnapped along with his Iraqi translator in Nasiriyah on Friday, said Mr Adnan al-Shoraify, deputy governor of Nasiriyah.
He said the translator's family had first reported the two missing. The pan-Arab television station Al-Jazeera also reported the kidnapping but provided no details.
The foreigner was reportedly a citizen of both France and the United States but was not otherwise identified.
Militants in the southern Iraqi city of Basra kidnapped Sunday Telegraphjournalist Mr James Brandon on Friday. They had threatened to kill Mr Brandon but released him after aides to militant Shia cleric Muqtada al-Sadr demanded he be freed.
