Lusaka - The Zambian High Court yesterday ordered the release of six journalists detained for questioning the army's ability to fend off an attack by neighbouring Angola and criticised the state for their arrest.
Police have held the journalists since Wednesday following a report in the privately owned newspaper the Post, which questioned Zambia's ability to defend itself against a military attack from neighbouring Angola.
"The six applicants will immediately be set free. However, it is sad to note the circumstances under which the applicants were detained," Lusaka High Court Judge Elliot Chulu said.
