THE Seanad Committee on Procedure and Privileges is to examine a Fianna Fail member's concern about the comments of a judge. Mr Dick Roche said that in a recent case taken under the Childrens' Act, the judge had admonished the plaintiff not to contact certain public representatives.
"It seems to me that this is a transgression by the judiciary into the role and responsibilities public representatives have to represent the public and to listen to their views and, of course, where they feel that an injustice by a statutory agency is being caused, to involve themselves in the correction of that injustice."
Mr Roche said he intended to bring the relevant correspondence to the committee. He would continue to represent the family in question.
