A JUDGE at Ennis Circuit Court has fixed October 19th for the trial of Harry Dinan and his nephew, Kevin Dinan, who are charged with the manslaughter of teacher Brian Casey (26), at O’Connell Square, Ennis, Co Clare, last December.
Harry Dinan (30), Waterpark Heights, Ennis, and Kevin Dinan, (23), Clarehill, Castleclare, have been in custody since December 28th after they were charged with assault causing harm to Mr Casey.
The Lissycasey man died in hospital in Limerick two days after the incident. As both men remained in custody, Judge Carroll Moran said yesterday that the case should receive priority.
Stephen Coughlan, for the State, said the trial could run for two weeks.
Legal aid has been extended to cover the costs of independent pathologist Dr Declan Gilsenan. He is to examine the book of evidence and to act as an expert witness.
Mr Casey was buried on New Year’s Day in his home village. He is survived by his parents, Martin and Eileen, sisters Martina and Aileen, brother Niall and his girlfriend, Cecilia Talty.
