A District Court judge will visit the ISPAT steel-making plant on Cork Harbour today to check the adequacy of fire safety arrangements there, reports Dick Hogan, in Cobh.
Judge Michael Patwell yesterday decided to make the visit, during the first day of the company's appeal against safety orders issued by Cork County Council which require immediate remedial works to comply with fire regulations.
The orders were issued after an inspection of the plant in January in the wake of a fire which killed one ISPAT employee.
