New Delhi - Some 40 elephants and their owners took part in a protest march in north-eastern India after being thrown out of work by a new environmental law, the Press Trust of India (PTI) reported yesterday. PTI said the elephants displayed placards during the march in the Tripura state town of Kailasahar. A court order against logging and cutting down forest bamboo has left around 100 elephants used for transporting the timber out of work. - (AFP)
