So little time and so many diagrams to get through was the verdict yesterday after the Junior Cert technology exam. But it was a fair exam with clear illustrations and a nice range of questions. Mr Bill Lynch, ASTI subject representative and a teacher at Oatlands College, Stillorgan, Dublin, said that students were "quite happy" with the ordinary level.
"Question 3 required a bit more sketching and drawing than you might expect," he added. As to the higher level, it was "generally okay."
Mr Rory O'Toole, of the TUI and vice-principal of Confey College in Leixlip, Co Kildare, said that the ordinary level was "very fair with clear and good diagrams." Mr Padraig Kirk, chairman of the Engineering and Technology Teachers' Association, said that the ordinary-level paper was straightforward and student-friendly and the higher-level paper was well presented and clear.
