A jury in the trial of a man accused of the attempted murder of his former wife has been discharged at the Central Criminal court.
Mr Justice Paul Carney discharged the jury when it emerged one of the jurors had a distant connection with a Garda involved in the investigation.
Mr David McDaid (39) is charged with the attempted murder of his ex-wife, Ms Dymphna Kiernan (35), at a horse-riding school in Surgalstown, Swords, Co Dublin on March 29th, 2000.
Mr McDaid has pleaded not guilty to the charge and denies two further charges of assault causing serious harm to Ms Kiernan and engaging in conduct causing a substantial risk of death to her.
