Greenkeepers working at the K Club have postponed strike action to hold talks with management at the Labour Relations Commission on Monday, it was revealed today.

However, a picket planned for next weekend at the 2006 Ryder Cup venue in Co Kildare remains in place.

The industrial relations row was sparked after two greenkeepers were made compulsorily redundant and offered what was considered an unsatisfactory settlement.

The Amicus union also claims that promised pay rises have not been received and that the working week has been cut to three days.

"The notice of official strike action on September 29th will remain in place until Amicus union officials have an opportunity to assess the outcome of the negotiations on Monday," said regional officer Colm Quinlan.

"We had no option but to serve strike notice as the K Club refused to negotiate on these issues. We welcome the intervention of the Labour Relations Commission, and we are committed to seeking an agreed outcome on Monday."
