Cardiff's Graham Kavanagh is hopeful that the Welsh club's return to the Division One will propel him back onto the international scene with the Republic of Ireland.
The 29-year-old has been in the international wilderness for the past three years and is desperate to add to his three-cap tally.
He said: "I have never given up hope of playing for my country again. I'm back in Division One and I just hope Republic manager Brian Kerr gives me a chance."
