A nephew of murdered Limerick crime boss Kieran Keane was jailed for three months today for being drunk and disorderly just 24 hours after his uncle's killers lost an appeal against their murder conviction.
Liam Keane (23) with an address in Singland Gardens, Limerick, denied that he was celebrating Wednesday's judgment at the Court of Criminal Appeal where the appeal of five men convicted of Kieran Keane's murder was rejected .
Limerick District Court heard today that gardai arrested the 23-year-old who admitted being highly intoxicated and abusive towards gardai and the owner of a snooker club at 11.35am on Thursday morning.
Mr Keane who has 42 previous convictions pleaded guilty to a number of charges under the Public Order Act, which included being drunk in a public place and engaging in threatening or abusive behaviour.
Judge Tom O'Donnell made reference to the fact that Mr Keane had three previous convictions for similar type offences before jailing him for three months.
