Racing: Jockey Shane Kelly has proclaimed his innocence after learning he is to be charged on three counts of corruption by the Horseracing Regulatory Authority.
According to the Racing Post, Kelly is to have charges brought against him for providing inside information for reward, for aiding and abetting a corrupt practice, and for misleading investigators.
Kelly, who is currently sidelined after breaking his leg in a fall at Bath on August 8th, allegedly faces questioning regarding 14 races run between November 2004 and April 2005.
He is adamant he is not guilty of misconduct and hopes the matter will be dealt with as soon as possible.
"I stress these allegations are not related to race-fixing and I will do whatever I can to help the HRA in their investigation and, indeed, have fully assisted them ever since this blew up," he said.
"I know how heavy the HRA punishments are for malpractice and perceived wrongdoing.
"I simply wouldn't knowingly put myself in a situation where my livelihood was put in jeopardy. Not for any amount of money.
"This inquiry has been a weight on my shoulders for long enough. For more than 18 months it has been an absolute nightmare for my fiancée Hannah and myself," he told the Racing Post.
"All I want to do is clear my name, return to full fitness and get back to doing what I love best - race-riding." PA
