The Borders have withdrawn their citing of Ulster prop Robbie Kempson after Alan Solomons side agreed to deal with the matter internally. The South Africa international was involved in a clash with Borders flanker Dan Kane in last Friday's Celtic League encounter.
Borders coach Tony Gilbert said: "Alan Solomons and I discussed the issue and I agreed to let Ulster handle the matter in-house.
"The coaching staff at Ulster have now seen the video, which shows the incident in question, and they have acknowledged the incident and the individuals concerned. Alan Solomons has said that Ulster will discipline the player; I trust him to do so and The Borders have withdrawn the citing on that basis."
An Ulster statement confirmed that the matter will be referred to an Ulster Branch disciplinary committee but any action that might be taken will definitely not rule Kempson out of this weekend's opening Heineken Cup match against the Gwent Dragons.
Kempson is alleged to have headbutted Kane during last Friday's Celtic League tie. The alleged incident was missed by BBC television cameras covering the game but Borders have claimed their own private match video picked it up.
An IRFU hearing had been scheduled for this evening and if the prop had been found guilty, he could have been banned for between six and 36 weeks.
