Some 996,000 viewers were tuned in to watch Pat Kenny's last ever Late Late Showat one point last Friday night, RTÉ said.
Kenny presented his last show after a 10-year stint in the chair on the world’s longest running chat show.
RTÉ said that, on average, 802,000 viewers watched the full two-hour live show, which featured actor Gabriel Byrne, singer Imelda May, celebrity pop promoter Louis Walsh, comedian Pat Shortt and U2.
A total of 996,000 viewers watched during a one-minute peak. In total, some 1,383,000 tuned in over the course of the programme.
The State broadcaster said that, in all, an average share of 55 per cent of people watching television watched Friday's Late Late Show.
Some 854,000 viewers in total tuned in to RTE1 in total over the course of Ryan Tubridy’s final Tubridy Tonight show on Saturday. At one point, it reached a peak of over half a million viewers (518,000).
Tubridy succeeds Kenny on the Late Late Shownext autumn.
