Listed Irish engineering and construction group Kentz announced today it has been awarded a multi-million dollar contract for the engineering, procurement and construction for a major project in Qatar.

The contract has been awarded to Kentz by Qatargas, which is a subsidiary of Qatar Petroleum. Qatargas has a number of international oil company partners in various projects in the Ras Laffan area.

The scope of work includes full site development of the main fuel truck distribution point for the Laffan Refinery Tank Farm, the installation of an interconnecting pipelines between the Tank Farm, Loading Facility and the Ras Laffan jetty.

Kentz will be responsible for process design, storage facilities, custody metering and loading facilities on a turnkey basis. The project is scheduled for completion in 2011. On completion, the facility will be handed over to WOQOD, which will operate and maintain the facility and service its domestic customer base.

Kentz currently has 4,000 employees in Qatar, servicing contracts for Qatar Petroleum, Shell, Qatar Foundation, QATARGAS, JGC-KBR JV, Linde, Chevron-Philips, RasGas, Technip and Fluor.
