Michael Kinane will miss the ride on Johannesburg in the Kentucky Derby after losing his appeal over a seven-day ban given to him by the Newmarket stewards last week.
The Jockey Club's Disciplinary Committee today upheld the suspension given to him for irresponsible riding of a major nature on Sahara Desert, first past the post in the Boadicea Conditions Stakes.
"Of course it's a disappointment, but it wasn't to be. I'm worn it out with trying to explain it now," said Kinane, who also forfeited his deposit.
The ban runs from April 27th, 29th and 30th and May 1st to 4th, with the Kentucky Derby running on the last day of the ban.
