Irish company Kingspan Century has won a British government competition to build social and affordable homes on publicly owned brown field sites.
The competition challenged participants to build a high quality home for a cost of just £60,000 sterling.
The company won the award as part of a consortium known as SIXTYK.
Chief executive of Kingspan Century Gerry McCaughey said the competition had pushed house builders to achieve "global best practice" and urged the Irish Government to follow the example.
Mr McCaughey described the Irish Government as having been "contemptuous" of any building method other than concrete.
The SIXTYK consortium also includes developers Crest Nicholson, architects Sheppard Robinson, project managers Davis Langdon, engineers Arup and urban environment planners MacFarlane Wilder.
