Berlin - The former German chancellor, Dr Helmut Kohl, faced pressure from within his own party yesterday to tell what he knows about a campaign financing scandal.
But Dr Kohl denied any knowledge of a million-mark ($520,000) cash donation in 1991 to his Christian Democrat (CDU) party from an arms dealer that was allegedly handed over in a metal suitcase in a car park. Prosecutors are investigating the case on suspicion of tax evasion.
