THE Labour Court Las adjourned its hearing of the Aer Lingus dispute until Tuesday after receiving initial submissions yesterday. It is to consider these over the weekend. In the meantime services will operate normally.
The dispute is over a company decision to replace one of the II SIPTU cabin crew on the route from Dublin to New York with a Delta "flag carrier" crew member. This is because of a worldwide partnership with Delta under which the US airline has block booked 40 seats on each flight.
SIPTU wants to maintain all its members' jobs on the route and restrict the Delta "flag carrier" to a few specified duties. Aer Lingus wants the "flag carrier" to work a full shift.
