Edinburgh - The Labour MP, Mr Mohammed Sarwar, was yesterday cleared of two charges of attempting to pervert the course of justice. He was acquitted at the High Court in Edinburgh after a trial lasting nearly nine weeks.
His co-accused, Mr Mumtaz Hussain, was also acquitted of one charge of attempting to pervert the course of justice.
Mr Sarwar (46), of Glasgow, became Britain's first Muslim MP when he won Glasgow Govan for Labour in 1997.
