Celtic striker Henrik Larsson has signed a one-year extension to his contract with the Scottish premier league club, keeping the Sweden international at Parkhead until 2004.
Media reports have suggested that Larsson, who scored 53 goals for Celtic last season, was coveted by Manchester United and Barcelona.
But Larsson today said: "I never had any intentions of moving.
"We (Celtic) have had a fantastic season and from day one my wish was to stay with the club. There were stories linking me with other sides like Barcelona and Manchester United, which simply were not true.
"The offer Celtic made was very good and this new deal has given me a lot of confidence to perform at my best next season.
"Representatives from the club came over to Sweden to meet myself and my agent Rob Jansen and things were sorted out very quickly.
"I am very happy that my future is now sorted for the next few years and I will remain at Celtic.
"I can now go away on holiday, relax a bit and not think about football for a while before coming back fresh for next season."
Larsson scored four goals, three of them penalties, as Sweden beat Moldova 6-0 in a World Cup group four qualifier in Gothenburg yesterday.
