Henrik Larsson's future at Celtic should be finalised when the Swedish striker meets with club management next month, according to his agent Rob Jansen.
The Treble-winners have been in negotiations with the Swede for months now even though he still has two years remaining on his present contract.
But it appears Larsson and his agent are not prepared to continue discussions into next season and are putting pressure on Celtic to meet his demands when they meet again in early June.
Jansen said: "We will have one final meeting at the beginning of next month and we are hoping for a successful outcome from that."
Larsson still has two World Cup qualifying games to play for Sweden - against Slovakia and Moldova - which are concluded on June 6th.
Jansen added: "We hope to meet the club right after that and Henrik will be involved in the meeting because it is the close season.
"I'm still optimistic that a deal can be struck and we will sort out this whole situation."
The Celtic supporters will be hoping that Larsson accepts the club's offer while manager Martin O'Neill wants to actively take part in the efforts to keep him at Parkhead until the end of his career.
Jansen said: "I can only say 'Thank you Martin'. That would be very nice, but we will have to wait and see."
