Lazio 2 Wisla Krakow 1 (agg 5-4)
Lazio booked their place in the quarter-finals of the UEFA Cup Wednesday after beating Wisla Krakow 2-1 here in their rescheduled fourth round, second leg tie.
Goals from Fernando Couto and Enrico Chiesa settled the contest after Marcin Kuzba had given Wisla an early lead.
The 5-4 aggregate win means Lazio will play Turkish side Besiktas in the last eight.
However it wasn't easy for the Italian giants as Wisla took the lead in the fourth minute in terrible conditions.
A Lazio attack broke down deep inside the Wisla half and the Poles worked the ball to speedy winger Kala Uche who went storming down the left wing.
Having outpaced Dutch defender Jaap Stam, Uche, who scored in the first leg, slipped the ball to Kuzba who drilled a low angled shot wide of Luca Marchegiani and into the far corner.
Lazio, needing to win to qualify for the last eight after being held to a 3-3 draw in Rome, rallied strongly and levelled the scores in the 21st minute.
Chiesa delivered a right wing corner into Wisla's penalty box and Couto rose highest to plant a firm downward header past Angelo Hugues for his first goal of the season.
The goal lifted Lazio who almost went ahead moments later when Claudio Lopez found himself unmarked in the box with just Hugues to beat.
But the Argentine forward shot straight at the Wisla goalkeeper with the goal at his mercy.
A desperate goalline clearance denied Portugese defender Couto a second goal as Lazio finished the first-half very much on top.
Ten minutes into the second-half, after Uche had deflected Kamil Kosovski's free-kick against the Lazio crossbar, the visitors took the lead.
Lopez' looping cross was only half-cleared by Marius Jop and Chiesa volleyed the ball past a statuesque Hugues from 20 yards.
The Italians sat back after Chiesa's goal, allowing Wisla plenty of possession, but Mancini's men survived the second-half onslaught to advance.
