Paris - Mr Jean-Marie Le Pen has the backing of a majority of supporters of his National Front in the power struggle which has split his party, a poll indicated yesterday. Three weeks after the deputy party leader, Mr Bruno Megret, openly challenged Mr Le Pen (70), a survey by the CSA polling institute showed the founder-leader sharply ahead of Mr Megret (49) among the party's electorate.
The survey published in Liberation showed Mr Le Pen winning 10 per cent of voter intentions in next June's European election, against only 4 per cent for Mr Megret, should the two compete with separate lists.
