Lome - President Ahmad Tejan Kabbah of Sierra Leone and the rebel leader, Mr Foday Sankoh, have agreed on a ceasefire in the west African state from May 24th, they announced yesterday after talks in Lome.
The announcement came after the talks between Mr Kabbah, Mr Sankoh, Togo's President, Mr Gnassingbe Eyadema and the US special envoy to Africa, the Rev Jesse Jackson. The ceasefire will take effect the same day as ministers from seven countries from the Economic Community of West African States convene in Lome.
